IOWA FALLS DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT We are all educators empowering every student to become a life-long learner capable of successful living.

PURPLE CORD AWARD IFAHS encourages students to be involved in volunteering and community service projects. The high school recognizes seniors at graduation that earn 100 hours of volunteering over their four years of high school. Students that are interested should contact Mrs. VanDyke or Ms Cutler for details.

9TH GRADE DENTAL FORMS Dental forms for 9th graders need to be turned in by March 31, 2010.

PARENT ADVISORY MEETING The next Parent Advisory Meeting will be held on Tuesday February 9 at noon in the Jerene Barlow Auditorium.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES The next high school Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, February 9 from 4:30-7:30 pm. Conferences will be held in teacher classrooms. Appointments will be sent out to 9th, 10th, and 11th grade parents to discuss ITED testing coming up the week of Feb 22. All parents and guardians 9-12 are encouraged to visit with teachers about their child's academic progress. Mid-term grades can be picked up in the office Tuesday evening.

SPIRIT WEEK FEB 1-5 The week of Feb 1-5 has been designated as Spirit Week. This week has been rescheduled from December. Each day students and staff are encouraged to dress up and show their Cadet Spirit. Monday will be PJ Day, Tuesday is Fake an injury day. Wednesday is Signature Day with students wearing white t-shirts and getting autographs from other students. Thursday is Opposite day. Friday is Spirit Day as students are asked to wear black, yellow, and red. Spirit Week will conclude with a Spirit Dance following Friday's basketball. The dance will begin following the game until 11:30 pm. Let's all get in the Cadet Spirit next week.

CELL PHONE POLICY REMINDER Students are reminded that cell phones are only allowed to be used in school during the 4 minute passing times, before & after school, and during lunch. Students are not allowed to use phones without teacher approval during class time.

HARDIN COUNTY PORK QUEEN INFO Any junior or senior girl who may be interested in being the next Hardin County Pork Queen, please see the guidance office. They are also offering a $500 scholarship for any senior who will be attending college with a major in an agricultural field.

CONCESSION HELP NEEDED Junior students and parents - I need a few people to work the concession stand Friday Feb 5 starting at 4:15. Please let Mrs. Koop know if you can help. Thanks

8TH GRADE ACADEMIC FAIR Eighth grade students and their parents are invited to the Academic Fair at the high school on Thursday, February 18 from 6:30-8:00pm.

LARGE GROUP SPEECH ANNOUNCEMENT The Large Group Speech Contestants will leave for State competition in Decorah at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday.

ECC HUMANITIES DAY Ellsworth Community College is hosting a Humanities Day on Wednesday, February 17th from 9:00-3:00. Anyone who is interested in hands-on learning experiences in art, music, theatre, writing, and photography may attend. Lunch will be provided. Please sign up in the guidance office by Monday, Feb. 8th. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Rieber or Mr. Carr.

SPIRIT DANCE Weather permitting we will be having a Spirit Dance after the game tomorrow night. If you have a date that is not an IFA high school student you need to sign your date up in the office before the end of the school day on Friday.

GIRLS TENNIS SIGN UP Anyone interested in girls tennis please sign up in the office and pick up a schedule. Make sure to have a physical by the first practice. Any questions, contact Coach Allen.

THANK YOU SOPHOMORES We have some good news and some bad new. The good news is that we got the PLAN done yesterday. The bad new is that Mrs. Rieber and Mr. Carr spilled a pot of coffee on the answer sheets. We will be making the test up this afternoon. Just kidding. Sophomores thanks for your cooperation yesterday.

SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENT Seniors-If you have not yet voted stop by the guidance office and cast your vote on senior class expenditures. Voting results will be posted in Mondays announcements.
