Saving Shiloh
Author:
Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
If Marty is willing to work for Judd Travers for one month, he can have one of Judd's hunting dogs, a puppy named Shiloh. Well, Judd isn't the kind of person that eveyone would love, and he takes advantage of Marty, Judd puts Marty through some pretty difficult tasks. I liked Marty because he's really brave and honest. I had to work for my uncle once and let's just say it wasn't very much fun. I loved this book because it taught me a lot and I can relate to it. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure that's dramatic. 4.9 R.L.

Johnny isn’t very good at jumping even though he is the tallest on the court. He has just moved from from his old school in New York. In the end Johnny fulfills his dreams by doing something that makes the fans be nice to him. What happens? Read this book and find out. We thought the book was a great inspiration to kids that play basketball. They should never give up. This book should be read by kids who like basketball and who like the don’t give up theme.

The Two Towers
Author:
J.R.R. Tolkien
This great story is about a magical world called Middle Earth. In this land there is a powerful ring that has found its way to a person named Frodo. Frodo is joined with nine other companions and they head for Mountain Doom. Mountain Doom is where the evil ring can be destroyed. On the way they have to fight Urukais. My favorite part of this book is the battle of Helms Deep. This is where good fights evil in a battle so it’s possible to proceed on the journey to destroy the ring and evil. You have to read this to see who wins this unbelievable battle between 5,000 elves and men against 10,000 mutated elves that call themselves Urukais. My favorite character is Legolas. Legolas is an elf who is good at archery. He is one of the nine companions that travel with Frodo. He is one of my favorites because he helps lead the group. He’s always optimistic and encourages everyone to keep moving on and not give in to evil. I would encourage people to read this book if they like enchanted, mystic worlds, adventures, and battles. To know if they destroy the ring, you must read this book. It will take your mind on an unbelievable adventure of a lifetime.

House on Hackman's Hill
Author:
Joan Lowery Nixon
Have you ever been trapped in a deserted house with secret passages, a missing mummy, and a Pharos curse? If you haven’t, then read The House on Hackmans Hill by Joan Lowery Nixon. The story starts out with Mr. Karsten’s story about how he had to live in the Hackman house. When Jeff and Debbie (the main characters) hear the story, they venture in for themselves. Then a very terrible snowstorm hits. They are stuck in the house with Anubis, guardian of the dead and he is after them! After exploring the house, they have to get out before Anubis finds them. Will Anubis get them, maybe, but don’t take it from us. Read it yourself! Our opinion of the book is that it is suspenseful, adventurous, and just down right hair raising. We recommend this book to anybody who enjoys adventure, mystery, and suspense!

The Watson's go to Birmingham
Author:
Christopher Paul Curtis
Ever wonder what it would be like to be called the “Weird Watsons?” Kenny’s family, Momma, Dad, Joetta, and Byron do. To top it all off, Byron is a 13 year old “official juvenile delinquent” who is in love with himself. After Byron kisses himself and gets his lips stuck to the mirror, skips school, pretends to make a movie by lighting plastic army men on fire and dropping them in the toilet, and dyes his hair red, the family decides it’s time to visit Grandma in Birmingham. While in Birmingham, Kenny experienced what it was like to be caught in a whirlpool, and Joetta learns what it is like to be caught up in a bombing. I would change nothing about this book. I recommend this book to people who like to read realistic fictional books that make you laugh.

The hidden
Author:
Margaret Haddix
The book called Among the Hidden is about a quiet, twelve year old boy who has to hide. His name is Luke and the reason he must hide is because in his community the law is that you can only have two kids. Luke is a third child. Luke meets a girl named Jen, and she becomes his best friend. Jen is planning a rally to free all the children who have to hide in order to live. Luke is worried about Jen going to the rally. Will the rally be a good idea? Will Jen and Luke find their place in the world? If you are the kind of person who likes to read half-way scary stories and books that intrigue you so much that you can’t put the book down then I advise you to read this book. This book was one of my favorites. I can relate to Luke because he told about how he got a thrill and a scary felling when he was hiding and I have felt that same adrenaline rush when I’ve played a hiding game.

Tuck Everlasting
Author:
Natalie Babbit
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live forever? You would probably think it would be great! But that’s not what the Tuck family thought. Mae, Tuck, Jessie, and Miles were trying to find a new home when they got thirsty and found a spring. Everyone drank from the spring except for the cat. After a while they all started getting suspicious. The cat died but none of the other people in the Tuck family died. Tuck blamed it on the spring, he thought it was magical. They were able to keep their secret until the day Jesse meets Winnie. Winnie has run away from home. She decides the place to hide is in the woods beside her home. There she finds the spring by a large tree. Jesse is also there and to her surprise, he won’t let her have a drink. What should Jesse do? His family is not ready to share their secret with the rest of the world. When Jesse’s mom, (Mae) comes, they decide to kidnap Winnie. I think that this is a very good book. This is one of my favorite books because it gets me into a whole new different world of my own. Tuck Everlasting was also made into a movie. The movie is very good. It follows the book very well. I would recommend this book to Natalie.

City of the rats
Author:
Emily Rodda
Meet three companions that have nothing in common except that they all hate the enemy called the Shadow Lord. They are on a quest to find the seven lost gems of Deltora. That’s the only way to over throw the shadow lord. They have found two of the seven gems. Now they are after the opal at the City Of The Rat’s. I think I'm most like Lief because we are both strong, cunning, smart, and swift. I really liked the book a lot. My favorite part was when Jasmine jumped from the rafters and slit Reeah’s throat. My least favorite part was when the Ra-Kacharz’s almost whipped Tira. If I could change anything about the book, I would change the hole and put a real monster down there. I would recommend this book to someone who likes fantasy books.
